Mi color favorito es el amarillo porque es el color del sol, mi número el ocho porque parece un gato sentado en espera de que le dibujen las orejas y la cola. Me encanta el chocolate y la pizza casi tanto como adoro escribir libros para los niños y niñas.
Me fascina leer y siempre tengo un libro de cabecera. El día lunes me trae suerte, seguramente porque abrí los ojos por primera vez al comenzar una semana de mayo, bajo el brillante amanecer del cielo azude Quito, Ecuador.
He recibido muchos premios fuera y dentro de mi país, pero el más grande de todos es tener la oportunidad de conversar con mis lectores. He publicado cincuenta y ocho libros y a todos los quiero por igual porque son mis hijos de papel.

Edna Iturralde is the best-selling writer of children's books in Ecuador while her books are also sold in the United States, México, Central and South American countries. She has published 63 books with a wide range of themes that interest and educate children in factual and emotional understanding of environmental and social issues drawn mostly from current and past Latin American cultures. Her literature also includes global social issues. Her book, Green was My Forest, was chosen to be part of the ten best Latin American Books published in the 20th century, awarded by SM Foundation and the Chilean Libraries. The Ministry of Education of Mexico (SEP) chose three of her books to be part of the National Reading Plan in the school libraries. Twice she has received the Ecuadorean National Award for Children and Young Adults Literature, three times the Skipping Stones Award from the US given to multicultural books. Seven times her books have made the List of Outstanding Books (Lista de destacados) from Girandula/IBBY Ecuador. Iturralde has been nominated five times for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) from Sweden. She obtained First Place with four of her books in the International Latino Book Awards Celebrating Worldwide Achievements in Latino Literature Honoring Books & Authors in English, Spanish & Portuguese. Most recently her books were chosen for the Common Core Curriculum in the California District, in the United States.
